I.in the context of the church music of the Parish of St. Peter
In 2020 two choir projects will be offered, in which interested singers are invited to participate in the rehearsals:
- Bob Chilcott's "A Litte Jazz Mass"
- "Christmas with Johann Sebastian Bach"
(including excerpts from the WO "Jauchzet, Frohlocket")
The church choir St. Peter / St. Anna in Rheinberg invites you to participate in the choir projectChristmas with Joh. Seb. Brook.
The main work will be "Jauchzet, frohlocket" from Bach's Christmas Oratorio, one of the best-known choral works. For many it is without a doubt the most solemn Christmas music that has ever been composed. There will also be other choral pieces from the Christmas Oratorio and other Christmas cantas by Bach, which not least exude festive splendor thanks to the same orchestral line-up of trumpets, timpani, oboes, flutes and strings that will accompany the choir during the performance.The program is complemented by Cantata No. 62 “Come on, the Gentile Savior” and festive music for orchestra!
It will be performed appropriately on Christmas Eve 2020. The fact that the Christmas Mass begins at 6:00 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m. the cantata no. 62 is played as an introduction, makes it easy to integrate into your own festival program.
The choir cantemus
the Catholic parish of St. Peter in Rheinberg invites you to participate in a choir project. Together, a great piece of contemporary choral music will be rehearsed and sung:
Bob Chilcott's "A Little Jazz Mass"!
Bob Chilcott (* 1955) is one of the most renowned and most sung English composers of our time. As a former member of the world famous "King Singers" he knows how to write singable and good sounding melodies. His "Little Jazz Mass" is one of the most sung works by him. It can be performed well in its line-up with choir and jazz trio (piano, drums and bass) and impresses with its varied design.
The mass will be performed as part of a Sunday service on June 7, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. in the St. Anna Church in Rheinberg. The choir will be accompanied by a jazz trio.
The choir project "Chilcott" could not take place because of the Corona crisis. Catch up will take place in 2021.
